Isidore, Davis Stand Out For St. Aug in Losses at SAU Tri-Match

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 RALEIGH, N.C. – Skyla Isidore (Jr./Morne Castries, St. Lucia) combined for 22 kills and Victoria Davis combined for 21 kills in two matches, but Saint Augustine's University lost 3-0 to Chowan University and 3-1 to Barton University in the SAU Volleyball Tri-Match at Emery Gymnasium on Friday, October 18, 2013.

The losses dropped the Lady Falcons to 7-10 overall and snapped their three-match win streak. They are still tied for second in the CIAA Southern Division at 4-2 and boast a 7-5 CIAA mark.

Isidore led the Lady Falcons with 11 kills and Davis added eight kills against Chowan in the opening match. Julieesa Thomas (Soph./St. Croix, US Virgin Islands) totaled 20 assists and Kayla Cason (Fr./Virginia Beach, Va.) had 20 digs while Davis and Brooke Morris (Fr./Norwalk, Conn.) each had three blocking assists for the Lady Falcons.

Suraya Chase collected 14 kills and Kelsey Schlake tallied 32 assists for Chowan, who defeated the Lady Falcons 25-15, 25-23, 25-17. It was a non-conference match between the two CIAA schools, however. Cindy Ehrich and Allison Smith had 14 and 10 digs, respectively, for the Hawks.

Davis paced the Lady Falcons with 13 kills and Isidore added 11 kills against Barton. Thomas dished out 30 assists and Cason finished with 17 digs for the Lady Falcons. Davis added 10 digs and three blocking assists. Kaitlyn Micol paced the Lady Bulldogs with 17 kills and Melissa Cochran added 12 kills while Amber Kelly finished with 38 assists. Corinna Morton led three Lady Bulldogs in double figures with 14 digs and Cochran finished with four blocking assists for the Lady Bulldogs, who won 25-17, 25-22, 20-25, 24-14.

Barton also defeated Chowan 3-1 in the second match to finish 2-0 at the Tri-Match. Micol led Barton with 17 kills and Cochran added 12 kills. Kelly amassed 34 assists and Morton added 17 digs while Alex Ward had 11 digs for the Lady Bulldogs, who won 25-16, 20-25, 25-18, 25-15. With the two victories, the Lady Bulldogs improved to 11-8 overall.

Chase paced the Hawks with 12 kills and Schlake finished with 25 assists while Ehrich had 19 digs. Allison Smith finished with three blocking assists for the Hawks, who are 13-5 overall after posting a 1-1 mark at the Tri-Match.

The Lady Falcons are back in action on Monday, October 21, 2013, in a key CIAA Southern Division match against division leader Winston-Salem State University in Winston-Salem, N.C. The Lady Rams are one game ahead of both the Lady Falcons and the Lady Broncos of Fayetteville State University. Match time is 6 p.m.
