Former Saint Augustine's University football standout
Rory Nixon has signed with the Richmond Raiders indoor football team this month (November 2013).
A Hampton, Va., native, Nixon was an All-CIAA center and team captain as a senior for the Falcons in 2012. He keyed an offensive line which led the CIAA in fewest sacks allowed that season. A four-year starter at St. Aug, Nixon anchored the line which paved the way for tailback Walter Sanders to gain 1,377 yards and earn CIAA Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2010. Nixon graduated Magna Cum Laude from St. Aug in May 2013 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration.
"We are glad to have Rory on our side," Richmond Raiders Head Coach James Fuller said. "He will bring some youth and stability to our offensive line. We are looking for him to be a standout player for us this season."
The season opener for the Raiders is March 2014. This will be their third season in the Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL). The Raiders have advanced to the league championship game the past two seasons and have the league's best home record (13-1) over that span. Their website is
