Box Score 2 CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Saint Augustine's University split a pair of volleyball matches at the Johnson C. Smith University Tri-Match over the weekend. The Lady Falcons defeated Morris College 3-0 (25-14, 25-9, 25-19) and lost to Bluefield State College 3-1 (25-21, 21-25, 17-25, 10-25) at Brayboy Gymnasium on Saturday, October 11, 2014.
Olivia Porter (So./Bakersfield, CA) led the Lady Falcons against Morris with 13 kills and seven digs.
Akera McPhaul (Fr./Greensboro, NC) added nine kills and
Juliseea Thomas (Jr./St. Croix, US VI) totaled 34 assists.
Danyelle Noland (Fr./Nashville, NC) contributed six kills and
Elisa Ray (Fr./Nashville, TN) chipped in six digs.
Porter paced the Lady Falcons with nine kills and seven digs against Bluefield State. Thomas dished out 12 assists and Ray tied Porter with seven digs. McPhaul recorded three blocks and Thomas added two blocks and six digs.
The Lady Falcons (6-12 overall) are back in Charlotte, N.C., on Monday, October 13, for a key CIAA Southern Division match against Johnson C. Smith University (7-8 overall) inside Brayboy Gymnasium at 6 p.m. Both teams are tied for third in the division with Livingstone College at 2-3. The top four teams in the division will advance to the CIAA Tournament in November.
This is the second meeting between Saint Augustine's University and Johnson C. Smith this season. The Lady Falcons lost in four sets in Raleigh, N.C., on September 18.
