Roderick Davenport (Redshirt Jr./Orangeburg, SC) rushed for 146 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries for Saint Augustine's University, but the Falcons lost 49-14 to Fayetteville State University in a CIAA Southern Division football game on Homecoming Day at the
George Williams Athletic Complex Saturday, October 25, 2014.
The stadium was packed with fans for the Homecoming game. This was the fifth contest played at the
George Williams Athletic Complex.

Michael Morand said. "I appreciate the administration, faculty, staff and community for coming out and supporting us."
Davenport, the CIAA rushing leader, needs only 62 yards to become the second 1,000-yard rusher at Saint Augustine's University in the modern era. He averaged 6.3 yards per carry against the Broncos including a 35-yard run, his longest in the contest. His rushing average is 117.2 yards per game after Saturday.
Davenport scored on a four-yard run and
Michael Lima (Redshirt Sr./Miami, FL) booted the extra point to tie the score at 7-7 in the first quarter.
Justin Shaw (Redshirt Fr./Durham, NC) scored the other Falcons' touchdown on a two-yard catch from
Cyril Davis (Redshirt So./Orangeburg, SC) in the second quarter. Lima made the extra point to get the Falcons within 21-14 at halftime. The Broncos (4-1 CIAA, 4-4 overall) scored 28 consecutive points in the second half for the final score.
Five-time CIAA Rookie of the Week winner
Claytin Lewis (Fr./Raleigh, NC) had seven receptions for 99 yards for the Falcons. He totaled 168 all-purpose yards against the Broncos. The Falcons' speedster entered the game ranked fourth nationally in Division II in all-purpose yards per game. Davis completed nine of 18 passes for 87 yards a touchdown.
On defense, cornerback
Dezmon Hopkins (So./Manassas, VA) led the Falcons with 11 tackles and an interception in the end zone to stop a potential Broncos' scoring drive. Safety
John'ta Cooper (Sr./Cairo, GA) added 10 tackles and linebacker
Edward Carroll (Redshirt So./Gary, IN) finished with eight tackles. Defensive end
Darius Goodman (Redshirt Fr./Richmond, VA) had two tackles for loss including a sack.
The Falcons (2-3 CIAA, 2-6 overall) travel to Charlotte, N.C. to take on Johnson C. Smith University Saturday, November 1. Kickoff is 1 p.m.
"We just didn't get the job done today," Morand said. "What we have to do is learn from our mistakes, get better, listen and be ready for Johnson C. Smith."
