Mikayla Pettyjohn (Fr./Jamestown, NC) tied a career-high with 13 kills and added eight digs and three blocks for Saint Augustine's University in a 3-1 (13-25, 25-19, 20-25, 17-25) volleyball loss to CIAA member Virginia Union University at Barco-Stevens Hall on Thursday, October 30, 2014. The match did not count in the conference standings.
Olivia Porter (So./Bakersfield, CA) and CIAA Rookie of the Week
Danyelle Noland (Fr./Nashville, NC) both added nine kills for the Lady Falcons (8-15 overall). Porter also had 16 digs while Noland chipped in nine digs.
Juliseea Thomas (Jr./St. Croix, US VI) dished out 27 assists and
Akera McPhaul (Fr./Greensboro, NC) tacked on seven kills for the Lady Falcons, who also got three service aces and seven digs from
Meghan Mahon (So./Houston, TX).
After losing the first set, the Lady Falcons regrouped to take the second set behind five kills from Pettyjohn and four kills from Porter. The Lady Panthers (11-14 overall) won the next two sets to claim the match.
Kristin Madison led the Lady Panthers with 17 kills and Renesha Chiles added 10 kills. Esha Atkins totaled 38 assists and Ellie Parsons tallied 20 digs.
The Lady Falcons hit the road Sunday, November 2, to visit Pfeiffer University in a non-conference match in Misenheimer, N.C. The match begins at 2 p.m.
