Saint Augustine's University opens the 2014 women's volleyball season at the Janet Collins Invitational in Murfreesboro, N.C. this weekend.
 
The Lady Falcons will play Converse College and host Chowan University on Friday, September 5 and Saturday, September 6 at the Helms Center. They face Chowan at 11 a.m. and Converse at 2 p.m. on Friday. On Saturday, the Lady Falcons face Converse at noon and Chowan at 3 p.m.

The Lady Falcons return five players led by setter Julieesa Thomas (Jr./St. Croix, US VI) and outside hitter/middle blocker Olivia Porter (So./Bakersfield, CA).  They added six freshmen on a squad which finished 9-7 in the CIAA and third in the Southern Division at 6-4. The Lady Falcons tied for fifth place in the CIAA Tournament and posted a 10-19 overall record.
 
Chowan was 18-9 overall last season which included a 12-2 CIAA record and a second-place finish in the Northern Division. Converse was 7-24 a year ago.
