Box Score RALEIGH, N.C. – Juliseea Thomas (Sr./St. Croix, US Virgin Islands) of Saint Augustine's University registered five kills, 11 assists and 11 digs, but the Lady Falcons fell to Fayetteville State University 3-0 in a CIAA Southern Division volleyball match at Emery Gymnasium on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015.
Olivia Porter (Jr./Bakersfield, CA) added five kills and Zoey Isom (Fr./Phoenix, AZ) recorded 16 digs for the Lady Falcons. The duo of Samira Luis and Shavon Shaw led the Lady Broncos with 13 kills and 10 kills, respectively. Luis also had 14 digs and Shaw chipped in 11 digs for the Lady Broncos, who also got 24 assists from Ashley Smith, 11 assists from Jessica Hardy and 12 digs from Nikita Cheadle.
The Lady Falcons led 19-14 in the second set and 18-13 in the third set of the 25-16, 25-22, 25-23 loss, but attack errors allowed the Lady Broncos to come back and win both sets. The Lady Falcons finished the contest with 21 attack errors and were outshot .309 to .010.
The loss dropped the Lady Falcons (6-7 overall, 3-3 CIAA) into a fourth-place tie with Livingstone College in the Southern Division at 1-2. The Lady Broncos (5-7 overall, 3-3 CIAA) moved into a second-place tie in the division at 2-1. The Lady Falcons and Lady Broncos will meet again on Tuesday, Nov. 3, at Capel Arena in Fayetteville, N.C.
The Lady Falcons will host their second home match in two days when Morris College comes to Emery Gymnasium on Friday, Oct. 9. The non-conference match begins at 6 p.m. Admission is free.
