Lady Falcons Host Livingstone In Key CIAA Volleyball Match Tuesday, Nov. 10 (Match Notes)

Saint Augustine's University hosts Livingstone College in a very important CIAA Southern Division women's volleyball match on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015. The match begins at 6 p.m. at Emery Gymnasium in Raleigh, N.C.
 
Records
The Lady Falcons are fifth in the Southern Division. Their record is 2-6 in the division, 7-7 in the CIAA and 11-12 overall. The Lady Blue Bears are fourth in the Southern Division. Their record is 3-5 in the division, 4-10 in the CIAA and 9-13 overall.


Story Lines
The winner will likely advance to the CIAA Volleyball Tournament, which will be held Nov. 20-22 in Fayetteville, N.C. A loss would eliminate the Lady Falcons from contention. The top four Southern Division teams at the end of the regular season qualify for the tournament. Juliseea Thomas and Dionna Hopkins of the Lady Falcons will be honored before the match on Senior Night.


Season Series
The Lady Falcons are 19-8 against the Lady Blue Bears since 2002 including a 10-2 mark at Emery Gymnasium.


About The Lady Falcons' Head Coach
Nikki Bynum Bumpass is in her fifth season as the Lady Falcons' head volleyball coach. She directed the Lady Falcons to the CIAA title in 2011. Under her guidance, the Lady Falcons have captured four consecutive CIAA team highest grade point average awards in volleyball. Bumpass is also the softball coach for the Lady Falcons, who won the 2015 CIAA crown and reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history.

ast Meeting
The Lady Falcons lost to the Lady Blue Bears 3-1 (25-17, 23-25, 21-25, 20-25) in Salisbury, N.C., on Oct. 12. Olivia Porter recorded 16 kills and 13 digs for the Lady Falcons. Juliseea Thomas added 19 assists and 10 digs while Shakera Hall and Zoey Isom contributed 11 digs and 10 digs, respectively.


Porter Among CIAA's Top Hitters
A Preseason All-CIAA pick, Olivia Porter (Jr./Bakersfield, CA) is having a stellar season for the Lady Falcons. She ranks second in total kills (261) and third in kills per set (3.22) in the CIAA.


Isom Leads CIAA In Digs
Freshman Zoey Isom (Phoenix, AZ) is making an immediate impact on the Lady Falcons squad. She is first in the CIAA in digs (410) and digs per set (5.06).

homas Among CIAA's Assists Leaders
Juliseea Thomas (Sr./St. Croix, US Virgin Islands) ranks fourth in assists (441) and sixth in assists per set (5.44) in the CIAA.


Lady Falcons Lead CIAA In Team Digs
The Lady Falcons use their quickness and athleticism to their advantage on defense. They rank first in digs (1,273) and second in digs per set (15.72) in the CIAA.


About Livingstone
The Lady Blue Bears are led by Lareecia Swiney, who ranks second in kills per set (3.68) and fourth in kills (239) in the CIAA. Stevee Cotton ranks fourth in assists per set (6.04) in the conference. Reginald Isley is the head coach of the Lady Blue Bears, who lead the CIAA in service aces per set (2.38) and rank third in blocks per set (1.66).
