Volleyball Team Visits Johnson C. Smith In CIAA Southern Division Opener

The Saint Augustine's University women's volleyball team will head to Charlotte, N.C., for a CIAA Southern Division match against Johnson C. Smith University at Brayboy Gymnasium on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2015. The match begins at 6 p.m.

This is the CIAA division opener for both teams. The Lady Falcons are 2-1 in the CIAA and 5-5 overall while the Golden Bulls are 1-2 in the CIAA and 1-8 overall. The Lady Falcons are seeking their third consecutive win and fifth in six matches.

The Lady Falcons are led by Olivia Porter (Jr./Bakersfield, CA), Zoey Isom (Fr./Phoenix, AZ), Shakera Hall (Fr./Bridgetown, Barbados) and Juliseea Thomas (Sr./St. Croix, US Virgin Islands). Porter ranks second in kills (122), third in kills per set (3.49) and fifth in digs (102) in the CIAA. Isom leads the conference in digs (166) and digs per set (5.35).

Hall was named CIAA rookie of the week after averaging 2.64 kills and 1.21 digs in four matches last week. Thomas ranks seventh in the CIAA in assists per set (5.51).

Anteesha Smoots and Salesse Stovall both average 1.60 kills per set for the Golden Bulls. Khadijah Segura averages 5.07 assists per set and Monika Krupa averages two digs per set.
