Shakera Hall And Akera McPhaul Lead Lady Falcons Past Bowie State And Lincoln (Pa.)

RALEIGH, NC (Oct 1) – On Saturday, Saint Augustine's University defeated Bowie State University and Lincoln (Pa.) University on the first day of the CIAA Volleyball Round-Up II at Emery Gymnasium.

The victories improved the Lady Falcons record to 4-3 in the CIAA and 6-7 overall. On Sunday, the Lady Falcons will aim for their third straight win when they host Virginia Union University at 1 p.m. on the event's final day.

Shakera Hall (So./Bridgetown, Barbados) and Akera McPhaul (Jr./Greensboro, NC) sparked the Lady Falcons on Saturday. They combined for 56 of the team's 92 kills in both matches.

Against Bowie State, Hall recorded 13 kills and McPhaul added 12 kills in a 25-14, 25-16, 25-14 win. Brittany Jamison (So./Summerville, SC) contributed eight kills, 10 digs and three service aces and Meghan Mahon (Sr./Houston, TX) finished with 34 assists. McPhaul added nine digs and Hall chipped in eight digs.

Breiona Garrison led Bowie State (1-5 CIAA, 2-7 overall) with six kills. Both Garrison and Kelisha Perry collected seven digs.

Against Lincoln (Pa.), Hall tallied 20 kills and McPhaul added 11 kills in a 25-22, 25-22, 25-22 victory. Mahon dished out 39 assists and Marley Parker (Jr./Langley, British Columbia) registered 14 digs. Hall added nine digs while Jamieson had eight kills and seven digs. Zoey Isom (So./Phoenix, AZ) registered seven digs and two service aces.

Mariah Russell paced Lincoln (Pa.) (2-6 CIAA, 2-11 overall) with nine kills. Atarah Lindsey added seven kills and nine digs.
