Lady Falcons Look To Snap Lady Bears' Win Streak
RALEIGH, NC (Oct 12) – On Thursday, Oct. 13, Saint Augustine's University will travel to Shaw University for a CIAA volleyball match between crosstown rivals at Spaulding Gymnasium. Match time is 7 p.m. and admission is free.
The Lady Falcons will attempt to end the Lady Bears' 12-match win streak. They are led by Shakera Hall (So./Bridgetown, Barbados), who ranks second in the CIAA in kills per set (3.76) behind conference leader and teammate Olivia Porter (Sr./Bakersfield, CA). A Preseason All-Conference selection, Porter has missed the last six matches with an ankle injury.
Meghan Mahon (Sr./Houston, TX) is second in the conference in assists per set (8.57) and Zoey Isom (So./Phoenix, AZ) is fifth in the league in total digs (210). As a team, the Lady Falcons lead the CIAA in kills per set (11.88) and ranks second in digs per set (14.24). They are tied for third in the Southern Division at 2-2 and are 7-9 overall.
Kelly Murphy and Keveesha Wattley pace the Lady Bears, last year's CIAA runner-ups and current Southern Division leaders. Murphy ranks third in the CIAA in kills per set (3.25) and Wattley ranks sixth (2.89). Michelle Olmeda-Gonzalez is the CIAA leader in assists per set (9.66) for the Lady Bears, who lead the conference in hitting percentage (.210), service aces per set (2.53) and assists per set (10.49). The Lady Bears are 3-0 in the Southern Division and 12-5 overall.

This will be the first of two regular-season meetings between the teams. The Lady Bears will come to Emery Gymnasium on Friday, Nov. 11 in the regular-season finale for the Lady Falcons.
