Box Score Lady Falcons Wrap Up CIAA Volleyball Round-Up II With 2-1 Mark
RALEIGH, NC (Oct 2) – On Sunday, Shakera Hall (So./Bridgetown, Barbados) amassed 21 kills for Saint Augustine's University in a four-set loss to Virginia Union University in the final match of the CIAA Volleyball Round-Up II at Emery Gymnasium.
Brittany Jamison (So./Summerville, SC) added 10 kills for the Lady Falcons, who lost 22-25, 23-25, 25-21, 18-25. The Lady Falcons dropped to 4-4 in the CIAA and 6-8 overall.
Despite the defeat, the Lady Falcons posted a 2-1 record in the CIAA Round-Up II. On Saturday, they beat Bowie State University and Lincoln (Pa.) University in three sets.
The Lady Falcons entered Sunday's match looking to avenge an earlier loss to Virginia Union this season. The Lady Panthers eked out wins in the first two sets, however. The Lady Falcons regrouped to win a close third set but the Lady Panthers pulled away in the fourth set for the victory.
Meghan Mahon (Sr./Houston, TX) totaled 42 assists and 11 digs for the Lady Falcons, who finished with more kills than Virginia Union (52-34). Marley Parker (Jr./Langley, British Columbia) had 19 digs and Zoey Isom (So./Phoenix, AZ) finished with 15 digs while Akera McPhaul (Jr./Greensboro, NC) collected three solo blocks.
Jayshil Oatley and Ambryanna Moore each registered nine kills for Virginia Union (4-3 CIAA, 9-5 overall), which tallied two solo blocks and 24 block assists. A'Maria Wright handed out 29 assists and Jamaica Adams contributed 19 digs.
The Lady Falcons are back in action this week when they visit Fayetteville State University on Thursday, Oct. 6 at 6 p.m. The site of the match is Capel Arena in Fayetteville, N.C.
