Lady Falcons Handle Livingstone 3-1 On The Road
 
RALEIGH, NC (Nov 7) – Led by the duo of Shakera Hall (So./Bridgetown, Barbados) and Olivia Porter (Sr./Bakersfield, CA), Saint Augustine's University (SAU) downed Livingstone College 3-1 in Salisbury, N.C. to qualify for the CIAA Volleyball Tournament.

The Lady Falcons (9-12 overall) will enter the tournament as the No. 4 seed in the Southern Division after beating Livingstone for the second time this season. At 4-5 in the division, the Lady Falcons have a two-match lead over the Lady Blue Bears (2-7 Southern Division, 8-16 overall) with one conference match left.


SAU will be one of eight teams headed to the tournament, which will be held Nov. 18-20 in Ettrick, Va. The tournament will consist of the top four teams in the Northern and Southern Divisions.

Bolstered by Hall and Porter, the Lady Falcons won 25-22, 25-19, 23-25, 25-17 to earn a tournament berth. Hall paced the Lady Falcons with match highs of 20 kills and 13 digs in addition to two blocks, and Porter added 14 kills and 10 digs. Hall and Porter rank first and second, respectively, in the CIAA in kills per set.

Several other Lady Falcons contributed to the win. Akera McPhaul (Jr./Greensboro, NC) chipped in eight kills and two blocks and Meghan Mahon (Sr./Houston, TX) finished 40 assists and three service aces. Brittany Jamison (So./Summerville, SC) totaled four service aces and Marley Parker (Jr./Langley, British Columbia) had two service aces while Zoey Isom (So./Phoenix, AZ) tied Hall with 13 digs.

Though the scores were close in three of the four sets, the Lady Falcons dominated the team statistics. The Lady Falcons had more kills (49-27), aces (11-5), assists (42-21) and digs (53-44) than the Lady Blue Bears.

The only category where Livingstone had success was blocks. Endea Woodle tallied nine blocks in addition to six kills. Jekisha Rhymes had seven kills and six blocks and Stevee Cotton finished with 21 assists, four blocks and eight digs.

On Friday, Nov. 11, the Lady Falcons conclude the regular season with a home match against archrival Shaw University at Emery Gymnasium. Seniors Porter, Mahon and Lindsay Baker will be recognized for their contributions to the program at the match, which begins at 6 p.m.
