RALEIGH, NC (Sept 26) – Shakera Hall (So./Bridgetown, Barbados) registered 12 kills for Saint Augustine's University in a four-set CIAA volleyball loss to Winston-Salem State University in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Hall added 12 digs for the Lady Falcons, who lost 18-25, 12-25, 25-22, 16-25. They dropped to 1-1 in the Southern Division, 2-3 in the CIAA and 4-7 overall.

Four players including Hall recorded double figures in digs. Akera McPhaul (Jr./Greensboro, NC) had 11 digs, nine kills, two solo blocks and three block assists. Marley Parker (Jr./Langley, British Columbia) and Zoey Isom (So./Phoenix, AZ) each had 10 digs while Meghan Mahon (Sr./Houston, TX) gave out 28 assists and added three block assists. CIAA kills leader Olivia Porter (Sr./Bakersfield, CA) did not play due to injury.

Mia Herrod totaled 11 kills and Teynia Shepherd contributed 10 kills, 10 digs and four block assists for the Rams (1-1 Southern Division, 4-1 CIAA, 7-5 overall). Jasmine Smith tallied 24 assists and nine digs.

The Lady Falcons return home to co-host the CIAA Round-Up II this weekend. The Round-Up will be played at Emery Gymnasium on campus and Spaulding Gymnasium at Shaw University.

On Saturday, Oct. 1, the Lady Falcons will face Bowie State University at 12 p.m. and Lincoln (Pa.) University at 3 p.m. On Sunday, Oct. 2, they square off against Virginia Union University at 1 p.m. All three matches will be played on campus.
