Lady Falcons Set To Play Three Matches At Emery Gymnasium
RALEIGH, NC (Sept 29) – This weekend (Oct. 1-2), Saint Augustine's University will co-host the CIAA Volleyball Round-Up II with Shaw University. Admission is free.
Five matches will be played at Emery Gymnasium on campus and four matches will be played at Spaulding Gymnasium at Shaw. Six teams including the Lady Falcons will compete in the event.
The Lady Falcons face Bowie State University at 12 p.m. and Lincoln (Pa.) University at 3 p.m. inside Emery Gymnasium on Saturday, Oct. 1. They square off against Virginia Union University at 1 p.m. on campus Sunday, Oct. 2. Below is the entire Round-Up schedule.
The Lady Falcons (1-1 Southern Division, 2-3 CIAA, 4-7 overall) are led by outside hitters Olivia Porter (Sr./Bakersfield, CA) and Shakera Hall (So./Bridgetown, Barbados). A preseason All-CIAA pick, Porter leads the CIAA and ranks 10th nationally in Division II in kills per set (4.47).
Hall ranks second in the CIAA in the same category (3.50 kills per set). Setter Meghan Mahon (Sr./Houston, TX) leads the CIAA in assists per set (8.52) and libero Zoey Isom, a preseason All-CIAA selection, ranks fourth in kills per set (3.93).
