Sophomore Quarterback Led Falcons In Total Offensive Yards

GREENSBORO, NC (Sept 3) – D.J. Johnson (So./Richmond, VA) was a bright spot for Saint Augustine's University in Saturday's 62-0 season-opening loss to nationally-ranked North Carolina A&T State University at Aggie Stadium.

The Falcons quarterback led the team with 68 rushing yards on 17 carries. He also completed 14-of-24 pass attempts for 77 yards. Johnson was responsible for 145 of the team's 159 total offensive yards.

Most of his passes went to wide receiver Sam Boyd (Jr./Houston, TX) who had seven receptions for 40 yards. Defensively, Anthony Gaskins (Fr./Greenville, NC) finished with eight tackles and forced a fumble. Devin Borden (Jr./Florence, SC) added seven tackles.

Turnovers on their first two possessions put the Falcons in a hole early. They fell behind 14-0 and never recovered against the Aggies, who ranked 25th among Division I FCS schools.

The Falcons will look to bounce back in their home debut against Carson-Newman University on Saturday, Sept. 10. The contest will be played at the George Williams Athletic Complex at 1 p.m.
