Box Score RALEIGH, N.C. (Oct. 1) – Saint Augustine's University posted a winning record of 2-1 at the CIAA Volleyball Roundup II despite falling to Virginia State University 3-0 at the VSU Multipurpose Center on Sunday.
The Lady Falcons defeated Bowie State University and Elizabeth City State University in straight sets on Saturday, Sept. 30, but lost to Virginia State 25-19, 25-17, 25-13 on VSU's home floor. Shakera Hall (Jr./Bridgetown, Barbados) registered 10 kills and seven digs, and Chandra Mackey (Fr./Nassau, Bahamas) totaled nine kills for the Lady Falcons (3-5 CIAA, 3-5 overall). Taylor Irving (Fr./Litchfield, AZ) handed out 18 assists and Zoey Isom (Jr./Phoenix, AZ) finished with 12 digs while Elisa Ray (Sr./Nashville, TN) and Mechelle Moss (Fr./Nassau, Bahamas) had seven digs and six digs, respectively.
For Virginia State (4-3 CIAA, 4-12 overall), Myja Jones collected eight kills, and Hailey Heyward and Kennedi Cannon each totaled seven kills. Cannon added 10 digs and Miranda Bass contributed 12 assists.
The Lady Falcons host Fayetteville State University at Emery Gymnasium on Thursday, Oct. 5. The match starts at 6 p.m.
