RALEIGH, N.C. (Oct. 15) – The Saint Augustine's University postseason hopes are on the line in a home Dig Pink volleyball match against Johnson C. Smith University at Emery Gymnasium on Monday, Oct. 16, at 6 p.m. Admission is free.
The Lady Falcons need a win against the Golden Bulls to stay in contention for a CIAA Tournament berth. The top four teams in the division advance to the CIAA Tournament, which is set for Nov. 17-19 in Ettrick, Va. The Golden Bulls (2-3 Southern Division, 7-4 CIAA, 9-5 overall) are fourth in the Southern Division by one game over the Lady Falcons (1-4 Southern Division, 4-7 CIAA, 4-7 overall), who are fifth.
In their first meeting, the Golden Bulls defeated the Lady Falcons 3-0 in Charlotte, N.C., on Sept. 21. The Lady Falcons have to sweep the Golden Bulls Monday to force a tiebreaker if both teams finish the regular season tied for fourth. Shaw University, Winston-Salem State University and Fayetteville State University are two games ahead of Johnson C. Smith at 4-1 with five division matches remaining.
The contest is designated as a Dig Pink Match to raise breast cancer awareness. The SAU volleyball team will wear pink paraphernalia against the Golden Bulls.
