SAU Volleyball Falls To Johnson C. Smith In Dig Pink Match

RALEIGH, N.C. (Oct. 16) – Mechelle Moss (Fr./Nassau, Bahamas) registered 12 kills and Shakera Hall (Jr./Bridgetown, Barbados) added 11 kills for Saint Augustine's University in a 3-0 CIAA volleyball loss to Johnson C. Smith University in the Dig Pink Match at Emery Gymnasium on Monday. The Lady Falcons wore pink paraphernalia to promote breast cancer awareness.

Taylor Irving (Fr./Litchfield, AZ) tallied 22 assists, 11 digs and 2 service aces, and Zoey Isom (Jr./Phoenix, AZ) had 20 digs and two service aces for the Lady Falcons (1-5 Southern Division, 4-8 CIAA, 4-8 overall), who lost 19-25, 18-25, 21-25. The defeat dropped the Lady Falcons two games behind Johnson C. Smith (3-3 Southern Division, 8-4 CIAA, 10-5 overall), which solidified its hold on fourth place in the Southern Division with four division matches left. The top four teams in the Southern Division qualify for the CIAA Tournament on Nov. 17-19 in Ettrick, Va.

Karina Pressior led the Golden Bulls with 15 kills and Azha McNeil handed out 21 assists. Georgina Diaz finished with 12 digs.

The Lady Falcons visit Winston-Salem State University in Winston-Salem, N.C., on Monday, Oct. 23. The match starts at 7 p.m.
