RALEIGH, N.C. (Oct. 23) – Saint Augustine's University stayed close with Winston-Salem State University most of the match before falling 3-0 (21-25, 15-25, 19-25) in a CIAA volleyball contest at Whitaker Gymnasium in Winston-Salem, N.C., on Monday.

The Lady Falcons tied the score 20-20 in the first set on an attack error by the Rams, but were outscored 5-1 to drop the set. In the third set, the Lady Falcons climbed within 15-13 on a block by Shakera Hall (Jr./Bridgetown, Barbados), but the Rams closed out the set with a 10-6 run.

Hall led the Lady Falcons with eight kills while Chandra Mackey (Fr./Nassau, Bahamas) and Mechelle Moss (Fr./Nassau, Bahamas) added five kills and four digs apiece. Taylor Irving (Fr./Litchfield, AZ) produced four kills, 21 assists and seven digs, and Zoey Isom (Jr./Phoenix, AZ) tallied 14 digs. The trio of Sydney Holland, Mia Herrod and Jasmine Smith each had 11 kills for the Rams (6-1 Southern Division, 16-4 overall).

The Lady Falcons (1-6 Southern Division, 4-9 overall) visit Fayetteville State University in a CIAA match on Monday, Oct. 30, in Fayetteville, N.C. The match begins at 6 p.m.
