SAU Volleyball Falls To Winston-Salem State

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (Oct. 13) – Janina Mayers (Fr./Christ Church, Barbados) and Mechelle Moss (So./Nassau, Bahamas) registered seven kills apiece for Saint Augustine's University in a 3-0 CIAA volleyball loss to Winston-Salem State University at Whitaker Gymnasium on Saturday.

Mayers added 13 digs and Zoey Isom (Sr./Phoenix, AZ) contributed 16 assists and 10 digs for the Lady Falcons. Chandra Mackey (So./Nassau, Bahamas) added 10 digs and Tia Jones (Fr./Bridgetown, Barbados) and Jordan Rozier (So./Raeford, NC) collected four block assists and three block assists, respectively.

Danyale Berry totaled 14 kills and 10 digs for the Rams, who won 25-12, 25-14, 27-25. Brittany Carpenter tallied 24 assists and Gabrielle Azar finished with 21 digs.

The Lady Falcons dropped to 0-6 in the Southern Division, 3-9 in the CIAA and 3-12 overall. The Rams upped their record to 3-2 in the Southern Division, 9-2 in the CIAA and 10-12 overall.

Both teams meet again Monday, Oct. 15, at Emery Gymnasium in Raleigh, N.C. First serve is 6 p.m.
