SAU Volleyball Hosts Johnson C. Smith In Home Opener Thursday, Sept. 20

RALEIGH, N.C. (Sept. 19) – Saint Augustine's University will host Johnson C. Smith University in its volleyball home opener at Emery Gymnasium on Thursday, Sept. 20, at 6 p.m. Admission is free to the match, which was originally scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 13, but was postponed due to Hurricane Florence.

This is the CIAA Southern Division opener for the Lady Falcons, who are 1-2 in the CIAA and 1-5 overall. Johnson C. Smith enters the match at 3-0 in the conference and 5-4 overall.

The Lady Falcons are sparked offensively by Brittany Jamison (Jr./Charleston, SC). She averages 1.94 kills per set followed by Mechelle Moss (So./Nassau, Bahamas) with 1.28 kills per set. Janina Mayers (Fr./Christ Church, Barbados) averages 3.50 digs per set, which ranks fourth in the CIAA.

Zoey Isom (Sr./Phoenix, AZ) averages 4.56 assists and 3.17 digs per set for the Lady Falcons. Alyssa Smith (So./Orangeburg, SC) leads the team in blocks (6).

Taylor Smith leads the Golden Bulls in kills per set (2.06) followed by Gorana Bogdanovic (2.03). Joi Haywood averages 4.26 assists per set and Georgina Diaz averages 4.35 digs per set.
