SAU Volleyball Opens Season With Two Away Matches In Three Days Starting Thursday (Sept. 26, 28)

RALEIGH, N.C. (Sept. 25) – Saint Augustine's University (SAU) begins the 2019 women's volleyball season with two road matches in three days, including its opener against Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, N.C. on Thursday, Sept. 26.

The Lady Falcons visit the Golden Bulls in Brayboy Gymnasium at 6 p.m. On Saturday, Sept. 28, they head to Orangeburg, S.C., to take on Claflin University at Tullis Arena. Match time is 2 p.m.

The SAU women feature seven returnees from last year's squad. They are libero/defensive specialist Janina Mayers (So./Christ Church, Barbados), utility player Chandra Mackey (Jr./Nassau, Bahamas), outside hitter Jordan Rozier (Jr./Raeford, NC), middle hitter Tia Jones (So./Bridgetown, Barbados), middle blocker Alyssa Smith (Jr./Orangeburg, SC), outside hitter Tatyana Hall (So./Greensboro, NC) and middle blocker Brittany Jamison (Sr./Charleston, SC).

Five newcomers are on the team. They are outside hitter Deandra Small (Fr./St. Phillip, Barbados), setter Malique Webb (So./St. Catherine, Jamaica), outside hitter Imari Mullins (So./Lakewood, CA), outside hitter Iyana Harrison (Fr./Oxford, NC) and middle hitter Hope Evans (Fr./Salisbury, NC).

Serita Wilson enters her fourth season as SAU head coach. Her assistant is Tacara Moxey. Both were former standouts on the Lady Falcons' volleyball team.
