SAU Football Travels To Virginia State Saturday For Season's First Road Game (Oct. 2)

RALEIGH, N.C. (Oct. 1) – Saint Augustine's University (SAU) plays its first road football game of the season on Saturday, Oct. 2.

The Falcons take on Virginia State (0-3 overall) in a CIAA cross divisional matchup at Rogers Stadium in Ettrick, Va., near Petersburg. Kickoff is 6 p.m.

General admission tickets are $20 plus fees for fans planning to attend. You must have your COVID-19 vaccination card and one form of identification for entrance in the game, per Virginia State University COVID-19 Game Day Protocol.

Fans can also follow the contest via live video and live stats. Click HERE for live video and HERE for live stats.

Live video is also available on the CIAA Sports Network (theciaasn.com) in addition to govsutrojans.com and saintaugfalcons.com. Live stats are available on govsutrojans.com and saintaugfalcons.com.

Both teams are seeking a conference win on Saturday after dropping their CIAA openers last week.

The youthful Falcons under Head Coach David Bowser are showing promise despite its early-season overall record (0-2). An SAU player has earned CIAA Rookie of the Week honors each time the Falcons have played this season.

Three weeks ago, defensive back Cornelius Booker (Fr./Kannapolis, NC) was named the week's top rookie after recording eight tackles and three pass breakups against Tusculum.

This week, wide receiver Deandre Proctor (Fr./Elizabeth City, NC) was chosen CIAA Rookie of the Week after scoring on an electrifying 92-yard pass and catch versus Chowan. He broke several tackles and outraced the Chowan defenders to the end zone.

The scoring play was the second-longest in the CIAA and the fifth-longest reception nationally in Division II this season. It is believed to be SAU's longest pass play in recent memory.

The contest is the first of three straight away games for the Falcons.
