RALEIGH, N.C. (Oct. 24) - The Saint Augustine's University volleyball team begins a pivotal stretch Monday when the Lady Falcons host Fayetteville State in a CIAA Southern Division matchup at Emery Gymnasium at 6 p.m.
Admission is free, but masks and temperature checks are required, per COVID-19 protocol by the SAU Department of Athletics. A hand sanitizer station will be inside the gymnasium.
With five matches left in the regular season, the Lady Falcons are attempting to secure their first conference postseason berth since 2016. They are currently tied for third in the Southern Division at 3-2. Eight teams – the top four in the Northern and Southern Divisions – advance to the CIAA Volleyball Tournament starting Nov. 16 at the sites of the higher seeds.
Fayetteville State, the CIAA defending champion, currently leads the Southern Division at 5-0. This will be the first of two meetings between the teams this season.
The Lady Falcons (7-11 overall) are led by outside hitter Tionna Graham (Jr./Portmore, Jamaica) and middle hitter/blocker Madison Jones (Fr./Durham, NC). Graham, who ranks second in the CIAA in kills per set, amassed a season-high 26 kills against Winston-Salem State last Thursday.
Da'Nesha Miller is the top hitter for the Broncos (13-6 overall).
Live video of the match will be on the CIAA Sports Network (theciaasn.com) and saintaugfalcons.com, SAU's official athletic website. Live stats are also on saintaugfalcons.com.
Team rosters are available on each school's athletic website.
