SAU Volleyball Hosts Livingstone Thursday

RALEIGH, N.C. (Oct. 6) – Saint Augustine's University returns to Southern Division play on Thursday when the Lady Falcons host Livingstone in a CIAA women's volleyball match at Emery Gymnasium. Match time is 6 p.m., and admission is free.

Masks and temperature checks are required, per COVID-19 protocol by the SAU Department of Athletics. A hand sanitizer station will be available inside the gymnasium.

The Lady Falcons (3-2 CIAA, 3-7 overall) are coming off a three-match stretch at the CIAA Round-Up I this past weekend in Winston-Salem, N.C. They established themselves as conference contenders at the roundup.

SAU swept Northern Division foe Lincoln (Pa.) in three sets (25-11, 25-14, 25-21) and held its own in losses to Northern Division leaders Virginia State (25-21, 24-26, 22-25, 20-25) and Elizabeth City State (20-25, 21-25, 24-26).

Several players stood out for the Lady Falcons in Winston-Salem, N.C. Tionna Graham (Jr./Portmore, Jamaica) had 18 kills against Lincoln (Pa.) and Maegan Williams (Fr./Durham, NC) added 10 kills and 13 digs.

Graham finished with 14 kills and Madison Jones (Fr./Durham, NC) added 11 kills and two blocks against Virginia State. Janina Mayers (Sr./Christ Church, Barbados) led the Lady Falcons with nine digs.

In the Elizabeth City State match, Graham finished with 10 kills and Mayers had 16 digs.

Sydney Moore (So./West Bloomfield, MI) was the team's top setter with 30 assists each against Lincoln (Pa.) and Elizabeth City State and 31 assists versus Virginia State. She tallied three service aces in each of the three matches.

Despite a 1-2 record at the roundup, the Lady Falcons remain tied for first in the Southern Division with a 2-0 mark. They look to stay atop the division against Livingstone (0-2 Southern Division, 0-5 CIAA, 2-5 overall) in the first meeting between the schools this season.

Ollyeon McMillion and Taylor Grant are the offensive leaders for the Lady Blue Bears. Ja'Nya Lunnermon is the team's top defensive player.
