SAU Football Travels To Livingstone For Southern Division Opener Saturday

RALEIGH, N.C. (Oct. 8) – Saint Augustine's University (SAU) plays its second consecutive road football game on Saturday.

The Falcons square off against Livingstone in the Southern Division opener for both teams at Alumni Memorial Stadium in Salisbury, N.C. Kickoff is 1:30 p.m.

Fans can watch the CIAA contest between the Southern Division teams on the CIAA Sports Network (theciaasn.com). Live video of the game will also be on bluebearathletics.com and saintaugfalcons.com.

The Falcons (0-2 CIAA, 0-3 overall) have won the last four meetings and nine of the last 10 matchups against Livingstone (0-2 CIAA, 0-5 overall). SAU is 5-0 at Alumni Memorial Stadium since 2010.

SAU has improved each week with a young roster featuring 75 freshmen. Quarterback Christopher Perkins (Fr./Spring Lake, NC) and wide receiver Deandre Proctor (Fr./Elizabeth City, NC) have stood out for the Falcons.

Perkins, making his starting debut last Saturday, completed 9 of 15 passes for 120 yards and rushed for 53 yards against Virginia State. Proctor currently ranks fourth in the CIAA in receiving yards per game (74.3) and yards per catch (24.8) in addition to first in longest reception (92 yards).

Defensive end Demetrius Johnson (Sr./Baltimore, MD) leads the CIAA in tackles per contest (10.2) and linebacker Lee Sales (Fr./Winston-Salem, NC) is tied for eighth in tackles per game (7.0). Sales and fellow linebacker Joseph Harris (Jr./Jacksonville, FL) are tied for fourth in the conference in fumbles recovered per game (0.33).

Both Proctor and defensive back Cornelius Booker (Fr./Kannapolis, NC) have won CIAA Rookie of the Week honors this season.

This is the second of a three-game road stretch for the Falcons. On Oct. 16, SAU heads to Winston-Salem State for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff.
