Three SAU Recruits To Play In N.C. All-Star Football Game Wednesday (July 13)

RALEIGH, N.C. (July 12) - Saint Augustine's University Head Coach David Bowser and his staff have a keen interest in this year's N.C. Coaches Association East-West All-Star High School Football Game, set for Wednesday, July 13, at Greensboro Grimsley High School starting at 8 p.m.

Three future Falcons will compete in the contest, which annually showcases the best high school players in the state of North Carolina. The East team includes SAU recruits Kaevon Freshwater of Northeastern High School, Remington Workman Jr. of Fayetteville Westover and Jalen Brown of Northern Nash. 

Freshwater starred at Northeastern as a 6-foot-4, 239-pound defensive lineman. He was considered one of the state's top 25 players by 247Sports entering the 2021 season and Freshwater did not disappoint, earning All-State honors from highschoolot.com. He finished his senior season with 103 tackles, 29 sacks, six forced fumbles and three safeties.

Workman Jr. (6-foot, 215 pounds) stood out at outside linebacker and defensive line for Westover High School. A three-time all-conference player, Workman recorded 92 tackles, 10 sacks and 16 tackles for loss. 

At 6-foot-3 and 330 pounds, Brown was a force at offensive tackle for Northern Nash. Brown earned all-conference honors in leading his team to a conference title as a senior. The Knights reached the third round of the state 3-A playoffs.
