Box Score RALEIGH, N.C. (Oct. 6) – The Saint Augustine's University volleyball team defeated Winston-Salem State, 3-1 (15-25, 25-16, 25-14, 25-21) on the road at Whitaker Gymnasium. The third win of the season would move the Falcons to 3-3 in CIAA play an 4th place standing in the Southern Division.
Set & Match Recap:
The first set was back and forth until the Rams put up 6 straight to pull ahead 12-6 early. The Falcons battled back to 17-13 but the Rams got hot again scoring 7 of the last 8 points to close out the match 25-15.
In the second set, the Falcons capitalized on some early Rams errors to build a lead before finding a rhythm to pull ahead 21-12 late in the set. The Falcons would ultimately close it out 25-16.
The Falcons hit a groove in the third set jumping out to an early 3-0 lead and later using streaks of 7 and 5 in a row to put the Rams away 25-14.
The final set seemed to be going the Falcons way as they pulled ahead early but the Rams showed fight tying it back up at 15-15. The Falcons would respond scoring 7 of the next 9 points to regain a strong lead 22-17. The Falcons would continue to rally and finish out the night with a 25-21 final set victory.
