LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – Saint Augustine's College won in dominating fashion Monday (Jan. 25) in a 99-71 basketball victory over Lincoln (Pa.) University at Rivero Hall.
The Falcons (14-3 overall), the top CIAA team in field-goal percentage defense, scored a season-high in points and held the Lions to 25 percent shooting including 12 percent in the first half when the Lions only made 4 of 33 shots. The Lions' first field goal occurred at the 9:26 mark of the first half.
The Lions (2-15 overall) warmed up some in the second half, hitting 9 of their 11 three-pointers in the half, but the Falcons, who led 50-25 at halftime, had built too big of a lead by then. Hayward Fain (Jr./Akron, Ohio) led a balanced scoring effort with 17 points and 12 rebounds for the Falcons, who shot a sizzling 60 percent, their second highest shooting percentage this season.
Chris Jordan (Sr./Houston, Texas) and Nick Chamblee (Fr./Hampton, Va.) both had 14 points, Steven Brignol (Sr./Brooklyn, N.Y.) had 11 points and Brandon Hickson (Sr./Columbia, S.C.) and George DeGroat (Sr./Portsmouth, Va.) both dropped10 points for the Falcons, who lead the CIAA standings and have the league's best overall record.
The Falcons will return home on Thursday (Jan. 28) for a CIAA matchup against Johnson C. Smith University at Emery Gymnasium. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
