Saint Augustine's College will meet one of the nation's best men's basketball teams in the Catawba Classic this weekend.
The Falcons (1-0 overall) face the University of Alabama-Huntsville Saturday (Nov. 19) at Goodman Gymnasium on Catawba College's campus. The game starts at 4 p.m. in Salisbury, N.C. On Friday (Nov. 18), the Falcons square off against Catawba, the host team, at 6 p.m.
Alabama-Huntsville (1-0) is ranked second in the NABC Division II Coaches poll. Last season, the Chargers finished 29-5 and made it all the way to the NCAA Elite Eight.
“It is an honor to play in the Catawba Classic,” St. Aug Head Coach Ken Spencer said. “We will be tested by two excellent teams, including one of the best teams in the country. I look forward to seeing how we respond.”
The Falcons, led by sophomore guard
Joel Kindred (Raleigh, N.C.), will look to knock off the Chargers. Kindred scored a career-high 28 points in a season-opening 86-77 win over Talladega College Nov. 12. First, the Falcons have work to do against Catawba (1-1), who will be playing on its home floor.
