Senior forward Shaun Washum (Norfolk, Va.) of Saint Augustine's College has been chosen to play in the eighth annual Historic Black College All-Star Classic which will be held April 23 at the Columbus Civic Center in Columbus, Ga. The Classic, which starts at 7:45 p.m., showcases the nation's top 24 men's basketball seniors from historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs). They get a chance to display their talents in front of fans as well as NBA and international scouts.

A three-year letterman, Washum was a key player as a junior on the 2009-10 CIAA championship team which set modern school records for victories (27) and winning percentage (85 percent). He made the All-CIAA Tournament team after helping the Falcons win their second league crown in school history. His 56 percent field-goal shooting led the Falcons that season.

A 6-6 athletic player with slick moves around the basket, Washum was the team's second leading scorer (10.0 ppg) and rebounder (4.7 rpg) as a senior. He ended the regular season with a career-high 27 points in addition to 10 rebounds against crosstown rival Shaw on Feb. 26. Washum is a human performance & wellness major.
