St. Aug Men Play In ECSU Invitational Starting Friday (Dec. 29)

The Saint Augustine's University men's basketball team will compete on Thanksgiving weekend in the ECSU Invitational, which will be held Friday, November 29 thru Sunday, December 1 at the Vaughn Center on the Elizabeth City State University campus in Elizabeth City, N.C.

The Falcons take on fellow CIAA member Elizabeth City State in a non-conference tilt on Friday at 7 p.m. Their opponent on Saturday is Washington Adventist University at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $10 for the Invitational. Fans can follow the contests via live stats on www.saintaugfalcons.com and www.ecsuvikings.com.

The Falcons (2-3 overall) are looking to regain their winning touch after losing three straight games including twice at the Mount Olive Pickle Classic last weekend. Four players score in double figures for the Falcons including junior guard Amere May (South Haven, MI/18.6 ppg), senior guard Joel Kindred (Raleigh, NC/16.8 ppg), senior center Jon Crawley (Richmond, VA/13.2 ppg) and sophomore forward Daniel Clark (Danville, VA/12.2 ppg).

Clark was named to the All-Mount Olive Pickle Classic team after averaging 13.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in two games. Both Clark and Crawley are the team's rebounding leaders with each player averaging 8.8 boards a contest. Sophomore guard Keith Crawford (Richmond, VA) dishes out nearly four assists per game.

Elizabeth City State (2-3 overall) are led in scoring by Glenn Patterson (14.2 ppg) and Dominique Byrd (13.2 ppg). DeCarlos Anderson and Darrell Ward both average nearly 10 points a game. Byrd is the Vikings' top rebounder with an 8.4 average and Anderson hands out 3.5 assists per game. The Vikings have lost three of their last four contests. Washington Adventist (6-2 overall) enters this weekend having won four of its last five games including a four-point victory over Elizabeth City State.
