MARQUEE MATCHUP OF THE WEEK:

Saint Augustine's University Falcons (15-6, 8-3 CIAA, 5-0 Southern) at
Winston-Salem State Rams (16-4, 9-2 CIAA, 3-2 Southern)
Saturday February 9
It's February, which means it's crunch time in the CIAA…three weeks 'til tournament time. With less than a month left in the regular season, every game is critical and slip-ups are magnified as teams jockey for division titles and coveted seeds in Charlotte, N.C. On deck in this week's CIAA Marquee Matchup is yet another critical Southern Division contest - division leading Saint Augustine's University, winners of six straight, travels to raucous C.E. Gaines Center in Winston-Salem, N.C., for a game against the talented but reeling Winston-Salem State squad, which is tied for second place in the division.

Saint Augustine's University Falcons: The Falcons continue to live up to their billing as the league's hottest team. After dispatching Livingstone and Fayetteville State last week, Saint Augustine's University has won six straight and leads the Southern Division with a 5-0 record. The Falcons have a two-game lead over Winston-Salem State with five games remaining in the regular season. The going doesn't get any easier for the Falcons. After their Saturday showdown with Winston-Salem State, the Falcons must survive a treacherous gauntlet of games in their quest for the Southern Division crown. They finish the season with a trip to Charlotte, N.C., to take on Johnson C. Smith and high-scoring guard Trevin Parks, followed by a backyard brawl versus crosstown rival Shaw, and a road trip to Salisbury, N.C., to take on Livingstone and their dynamic backcourt duo of Mark Thomas and Jody Hill. They then close out the regular season at home against Fayetteville State on Feb. 23.

Winston-Salem State Rams: After winning twelve in a row, the Rams have dropped two of their last five games to fall to 3-2 in the Southern Division, a full two games out of first place. The Rams are coming off a 1-1 week including a 92-82 road win over Johnson C. Smith on Wednesday and a 75-72 loss at home to Livingstone on Saturday. Winston-Salem State can make up some ground in the division race and gain some measure of revenge with a win over Saint Augustine's University on Saturday. The Falcons snapped WSSU's 12-game winning streak with a 63-61 win over the Rams on Jan. 19.
