Amere May (South Haven, MI) scored 23 points including a huge three-pointer late as Saint Augustine's University rallied from 12 points down in the second half to top Bowie State 79-69 at A.C. Jordan Arena for its eighth consecutive men's basketball victory on Thursday, January 9, 2014. The Falcons upped their record to 10-3 overall and 3-0 in the CIAA.

This is the best win streak for the Falcons since the 2009-10 season. They relied on another strong second-half performance to stay in the victory column.
May drained a trey with 1:11 left to break a tie game and put the Falcons up 69-66. It was the Falcons' first lead since early in the first half.
Zafir Williams of Bowie State connected on a free throw to slice the Falcons' lead to two points, but junior forward
Tashaun Stockdale (Poplar, SC) converted a key three-point play for a 72-67 St. Aug lead with 35 seconds left. Stockdale added a free throw and senior guard
Joel Kindred (Raleigh, NC) threw down a dunk to increase the lead to 75-67 with 13 seconds left.
After David Golladay dunked to pull the Bulldogs within 75-69, May hit 4 of 4 free throws for the final margin after he was fouled and after the Bowie State Head Coach received a technical foul.
After losing by five at halftime, the Falcons outscored the Bulldogs 45-30 in the second half including 13-3 in the last two minutes of the game after falling behind 48-36 early in the second half.
The Falcons have come from behind in two of their last three contests. On Jan. 4, the Falcons rallied from a 21-point deficit midway in the second half to edge Elizabeth City State University by three points in overtime at home. On Thursday, they took command late to erase another double-digit lead.
May scored 15 of his 23 points in the second half. Kindred added 13 points and Stockdale tallied 10 points for the Falcons, who outscored the Bulldogs 29-6 in bench points and 17-9 in second-chance points. Senior center Jon Crawley (Richmond, VA) added nine points and junior guard
Raheem Jolliffe (Fayetteville, NC) had eight points and six rebounds.
Golladay led Bowie State with 21 points and Ray Gatling added 19 points. Carlos Smith posted a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds for the Bulldogs, who lost their fourth straight game. It was the CIAA home opener for the Bulldogs.
The Falcons led 16-10 in the first half on a three-pointer by Joliffe. Brian Freeman gave the Bulldogs a 19-18 lead on a jumper and they led the rest of the half. Their lead reached six points at 24-18, but the Falcons climbed within two on May's jumper. A three-pointer by Gatling before the horn sounded put the Bulldogs ahead 39-34 at halftime.
