Daniel Clark (Danville, VA) finished with 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
Both teams were smoking from the floor in the second half. The Falcons shot 54 percent and the Golden Bulls connected on 60 percent of their shots.
The Golden Bulls relied on its hot shooting to take command of the second half. Their one-point halftime lead stretched to 16 points at 75-59 with 4:09 remaining. They led 82-68 with 1:07 left but the Falcons cut into the margin in the closing seconds.
A layup by May brought the Falcons within 83-78 with 33 seconds remaining. The Golden Bulls turned the ball over, but the Falcons missed a layup which would have chopped the deficit to three points. The Golden Bulls hit two free throws with 16 seconds left for the final score.
Emilio Parks sparked the Golden Bulls with 16 points and Alandre Davis added 14. Antwan Wilkerson contributed 12 points.
The Falcons lost despite knocking down 10 more free throws and winning the rebounding battle 43-37. The Golden Bulls shot 50 percent from the floor overall and outscored the Falcons 58-44 in the paint.
"Our inexperience as a basketball team is showing," St. Aug Head Coach Tony Sheals said. "Even though we have played 24 games, our inexperience shows in how we finish games and how we deal with adversity."
The Falcons are 1-7 in the Southern Division, 4-10 in the CIAA and 11-13 overall after dropping their sixth consecutive game. The Golden Bulls are 3-5 in the Southern Division, 6-8 in the CIAA and 14-10 overall.
The Falcons play their final home game of the season against Southern Division leader Livingstone College at Emery Gymnasium on Wednesday, February 19, 2014. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
"This team has to continue to support each other through adversity," Sheals said. "There is no "i" in team. That is our motto, and that will continue to be our motto."
This will be the final collegiate home appearance for seniors Kindred, Crawley and center
Aru Kok (Perth, Australia). They will be honored between the men's and women's games along with the women's basketball and cheerleading seniors.
