The Saint Augustine's University men's and women's basketball teams will play for the third time in five days when they host the Virginia State University men's and women's teams at Emery Gymnasium on Wednesday, February 5, 2014. The women's game starts at 5:30 p.m. followed by the men's game at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $12 for general admission. The cost is $8 for children ages 6 to 12, visiting students with valid ID, faculty and staff, and military personnel. St. Aug students with valid ID get in free as well as children ages 5 and under. Seating is limited and on a first-come, first-serve basis.
WAUG-TV will televise the basketball doubleheader on Time Warner Cable 168 in Raleigh, N.C. WAUG is a television and radio station owned and operated by Saint Augustine's University.
Both the Falcons and Lady Falcons are looking to rebound from losses at Livingstone College on Monday, February 3. The Lady Falcons nearly rallied from a 20-point second-half deficit before falling 85-81. The Falcons got 29 points from junior guard

The Lady Falcons (5-5 CIAA, 10-9 overall) are led by sophomore guards
Regime McCombs (Greenville, SC) and
Porscha Walton (Chesterfield, VA) and sophomore forward
Terri Jacobs (McDonough, GA). McCombs leads the team with a 13.3 scoring average and is second in the CIAA with a 37.1 three-point field-goal shooting percentage. Walton averages 9.8 points, four rebounds, 3.4 assists and two steals at the point guard position. Jacobs averages 9.4 points and 9.1 rebounds, which is tied for third in the CIAA. The Lady Falcons rank first in the CIAA in free throw attempts and third in scoring, field goal attempts, three-point field goal attempts and offensive rebounds per game.

Joel Kindred (Raleigh, N.C.) and senior center Jon Crawley (Richmond, VA). May averages 20.4 points and Kindred averages 14.7 points and 7.2 rebounds. Crawley averages 11.8 points, 7.9 rebounds and a league-high 2.1 blocks. He also leads the CIAA with a 60.4 field goal percentage and ranks fifth in rebounding. The Falcons rank second in the CIAA in rebounding margin and fourth in points per game.
The Lady Falcons face a Virginia State team (8-1 CIAA, 17-1 overall) that is ranked 14
th in the latest USA Today Sports Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll. Senior forward Lamesha Deal ranks among the top five CIAA scorers and rebounders. She averages 14.1 points and 8.9 rebounds. Junior forward Da'Shae Jones averages 11.6 points and sophomore center Tiffanie Adair averages 11.1 points. The Lady Trojans rank first in the league in field goal percentage, three-point field goal percentage and points allowed per game.
The Virginia State men (4-6 CIAA, 11-9 overall) are led by the backcourt duo of junior Lamar Kearse and senior Chris Grier. Kearse averages 11.5 points and Grier averages 11 points. The Trojans lead the CIAA in fewest points allowed per game, opponents' three-point shooting percentage and rebounding margin.
The contest marks the return of Virginia State Head Coach Lonnie Blow Jr., who was the St. Aug Head Coach from 2008-2010 and 2012-2013.
