RALEIGH, N.C. - Saint Augustine's University will host Winston-Salem State University in a men's and women's basketball doubleheader at Emery Gymnasium on Saturday, February 8, 2014. Game time is 2 p.m. for the women's contest and 4 p.m. for the men's game.
Tickets are $12 for general admission. The cost is $8 for children ages 6 to 12, visiting students with valid ID, faculty and staff, and military personnel. St. Aug students with valid ID get in free as well as children ages 5 and under. Seating is limited and on a first-come, first-serve basis.
WAUG-TV will televise the basketball doubleheader on Time Warner Cable 168 in Raleigh, N.C. WAUG is a television and radio station owned and operated by Saint Augustine's University.
The Lady Falcons (1-4 Southern Division, 5-6 CIAA, 10-10 overall) are led by sophomore guards
Regime McCombs (Greenville, SC) and
Porscha Walton (Chesterfield, VA), and sophomore forward
Terri Jacobs (McDonough, GA). McCombs leads the team with a 13.2 scoring average and ranks first in the CIAA with a 37.3 three-point field-goal shooting percentage. Walton averages 10.2 points, four rebounds, 3.5 assists and two steals at the point guard position. Jacobs averages 9.1 points and 9.0 rebounds, which is fourth-best in the CIAA. The Lady Falcons rank first in the CIAA in free throw attempts and third in scoring, field goal attempts and three-point field goal attempts.

Amere May, the CIAA scoring leader, in addition to senior guard-forward
Joel Kindred (Raleigh, N.C.) and senior center Jon Crawley (Richmond, VA). May averages 20 points and Kindred averages 14.7 points and seven rebounds. Crawley averages 11.4 points, 7.8 rebounds and a league-high 2.2 blocks. He also leads the CIAA with a 60.3 field goal percentage. The Falcons rank first in the CIAA in blocks, second in offensive rebounding and third in rebounding margin and field goals made per game.
The Winston-Salem State women (2-3 Southern Division, 6-5 CIAA, 12-9 overall) are led by guard Jasmine Elum and forward Dionna Scott. Elum averages 15.3 points and Scott averages 11.2 points. The Lady Rams rank second in the CIAA in free throw attempts and third in field goal percentage and rebound margin.
The Winston-Salem State men (3-2 Southern Division, 7-4 CIAA, 12-9 overall) are paced by guard Marquez Jones, the CIAA second-leading scorer with a 19.9 average. Forwards Preston Ross and Wykevin Bazemore average 17.1 and 14.2 points, respectively. Bazemore leads the CIAA in rebounding with a 9.2 average, and Ross ranks third in the league with a 41.7 three-point field-goal percentage. The Rams rank second in the CIAA in free throws made and attempted, and third in scoring and field goal percentage.
This is the second meeting between the CIAA divisional rivals this season. The Falcons and Lady Falcons both lost by scores of 76-67 and 62-52, respectively, on January 18 in the MLK Classic in Winston-Salem, N.C. The Falcons have won the last two men's contests against the Rams at Emery Gymnasium. The Lady Falcons defeated the Lady Rams last season at Emery Gymnasium.
