Gaskins Scores Career-High 26 Points In Falcons' Loss To The Lincoln (Pa.)

RALEIGH, N.C. – Guard Anthony Gaskins (So./Greenville, NC) scored a career-high 26 points for Saint Augustine's University in an 88-65 CIAA men's basketball loss to The Lincoln (Pa.) University on the Harvey D. Heartley, Sr. Court at Emery Gymnasium Saturday, January 10, 2015.

The loss dropped the Falcons to 0-4 in the CIAA and 6-8 overall. The Lions improved to 4-1 in the CIAA and 10-5 overall.

Gaskins knocked down 9 of 14 shots including 3 of 6 behind the three-point arc. He also made 5 of 7 free throw attempts in addition to leading the Falcons in assists (4) and steals (2), which both tied game-highs. His four rebounds tied a team-high. Forward Damarian Henderson (Fr./Goldsboro, NC) came off the bench to score 10 points for the Falcons.

Gaskins' previous career-high in points was 21 in a 74-70 win against Virginia University of Lynchburg on December 13, 2014. He also had 11 rebounds that day.

Led by Gaskins, the Falcons shot 48 percent but the Lions shot 55 percent. Joshua Davis came off the bench to score 19 points for the Lions. Kyle Aiken added 14 points, and Tony Efese and Alonzo Murphy each contributed 10 points.

The Lions slowly took control in the first half behind their balanced scoring attack. The score was tied 13-13 at the 10:44 mark of the first half, but the Lions went on a 19-6 run for a 32-19 lead. The Falcons went into halftime down 36-25.

Gaskins scored 11 points in the first half. He continued to play well in the second half, but the Falcons' deficit grew larger. They were down by double digits for all but a few minutes of the second half.

Forward Quincy January (Fr./Atlanta, GA) had eight points and four rebounds for the Falcons. Guard Nick Tennell (Jr./Port St. Lucie, FL) and forward Marquis Hines (Jr./Fayetteville, NC) each scored six points.

The Falcons will play their third home game in five days on Monday, January 12. They will host Virginia Union University at 7:30 p.m.
