Coming off a two-week holiday break, Saint Augustine's University will attempt to continue its winning ways at Elizabeth City State University in the CIAA men's basketball opener for the Falcons on Saturday, January 3, 2015. Tip-off is 4 p.m.
The contest is the second game of a doubleheader between the men's and women's teams of both universities. The price of the doubleheader is $5.

The Falcons (6-4 overall) bring a four-game win streak to the R.L. Vaughan Center in Elizabeth City, N.C. They averaged 80 points per game during that stretch. For the season, the Falcons average 76 points and shoot 45 percent from the floor.
Several players have contributed to their recent success. Guard Raheem Jolliffe (Sr./Fayetteville, NC), who leads the CIAA with an 18.3 scoring average, is one of five double-figure scorers. Guards Xavier Saddler-Mee (Jr./Raleigh, NC/18 ppg) and Anthony Gaskins (So./Greenville, NC/11 ppg) in addition to forwards Tashaun Stockdale (Sr./Poplar, SC/12.7 ppg) and Quincy January (Fr./Atlanta, GA/11.1 ppg) score over 10 points per contest.
January, the CIAA Co-Rookie of the Week, impacts the Falcons in other areas. The high-flying forward ranks sixth nationally in Division II in offensive rebounds per game (4.22). He also ranks third in the CIAA in field goal percentage (64.5), with many of his points coming on highlight-reel dunks
The Falcons need their offensive firepower against Elizabeth City State, which defeated Shaw University at home 76-66 in its conference opener on Thursday, January 1. The Vikings (1-0 CIAA, 8-6 overall), winners of eight of their last nine games, average 81 points per contest and shoot 41 percent from three-point range.
Guard Miykael Faulcon leads the Vikings in scoring with a 15.2 average. Forward Darrell Ward and guard Glenn Patterson average 13.7 points and 10 points, respectively. Ward led four double-figure scorers with 14 points in the win over Shaw.
