ETTRICK, Va. – Forward Marquis Hines (Sr./Fayetteville, NC) scored 17 points on 8-for-12 shooting to lead a trio of double figure scorers as Saint Augustine's University took a season-opening 77-71 men's basketball victory over Glenville State College in the Trojan Tip-Off Classic at Daniel Gymnasium on Friday, Nov. 13, 2015.

Guard Keith Crawford (Sr./Richmond, VA) added 14 points, nine assists and two steals, and forward Quincy January (So./Atlanta, GA) chipped in 13 points on 5-for-9 shooting for the Falcons, who led nearly the entire second half.

After Glenville State went ahead 46-45 early in the second half, the Falcons opened a 14-point lead on a 19-4 run. Guard Jeremy Saunders (Jr./Hampton, VA) drilled a three-pointer for a 64-50 lead with 11:05 left. The Falcons stayed in control the rest of the contest.

Forward Nick Moyer (Sr./Martinsville, VA) finished with eight points and 10 rebounds for the Falcons, who outrebounded Glenville State 45-34. Saunders added eight points and forward Andre Stanley (Jr./Virginia Beach, VA) registered seven points on 3-for-3 shooting in addition to grabbing four rebounds. Guard Nick Tennell (Sr./Port St. Lucie, FL) dished out five assists and guard D.J. Chamblee (Fr./Kernersville, NC) had six rebounds and four assists for the Falcons.

Micah Thomas and Tonnie Collier both scored 17 points for Glenville State. Sedric Nady added 13 points.

Both teams were scorching the nets in a high-scoring first half. Glenville State shot 50 percent and the Falcons made 46 percent of their shots for a 43-41 lead. Both squads cooled off considerably in the second half, but the Falcons shot a little better (37 percent-32 percent) and grabbed more offensive rebounds (10-7) to get the victory. For the contest, the Falcons shot 42 percent and Glenville State shot 40 percent.

The Falcons return to action in the Classic on Saturday, Nov. 14. They will face Slippery Rock University at 6 p.m.
