Story Line

After a solid outing at the Finis Horne Holiday Classic, the Falcons return home to face a challenging non-conference opponent in Alderson Broaddus.

About the Falcons' Head Coach

MarQus Johnson is in his second season as the Falcons' head men's basketball coach. In his first season, Johnson coached guard Raheem Jolliffe to All-CIAA honors and forward Quincy January to CIAA Rookie of the Year honors. Johnson was elevated to head coach after two seasons as assistant men's basketball coach for the Falcons from 2012 to 2014. He was previously an assistant coach at Saint Augustine's University from 2008 to 2010. In the 2009-10 season, Johnson helped direct the Falcons to their second CIAA championship in school history. That squad advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament and earned a national top 25 ranking.

Last Game

Keith Crawford (Sr./Richmond, VA) scored 10 of his game-high 17 points in the final five minutes as the Falcons rallied to stop host Lander University 60-57 on the first day of the Finis Horne Holiday Classic at Horne Arena Friday, Nov. 27. The Falcons trailed 41-32 early in the second half, but outscored the Bearcats 28-16 the rest of the way to snap a two-game losing streak. The Bearcats were held without a field goal in the final 5:39 of the contest. During that stretch, the Falcons went on a 13-4 run to gain the win on the Bearcats' home floor.

The next day, Anthony Gaskins (Sr./Greenville, NC) scored 19 points for the Falcons in a 78-61 loss to Lenoir-Rhyne University. Keith Crawford (Sr./Richmond, VA) added 17 points and Quincy January (So./Atlanta, GA) recorded a double-double with 17 points and a career-high 15 rebounds. Both Gaskins and Crawford combined to make 10 of 19 three-point attempts for the Falcons, who made 46 percent from three-point land as a team. Gaskins was 5 of 9 and Crawford was 5 of 10 on three-point attempts.

Gaskins Leads Falcons In Scoring

Crawford Steady In The Backcourt

Keith Crawford (Sr./Richmond, VA) is a veteran floor leader for the Falcons. He is second on the team in points per game (12.2) and is the team leader in assists per game (3.4). He also averages 3.2 rebounds per game.

January Among CIAA Rebound Leaders

Quincy January (So./Atlanta, GA) is a big reason why the Falcons are among the CIAA rebounding leaders. The high-leaping forward is fifth in the CIAA in rebounds per game (7.7). January is a Preseason All-CIAA pick who was the league' rookie of the year last season. January is third on the team in scoring with an 11.7-point average.
