RALEIGH, N.C. - Quincy January (So./Atlanta, GA) finished with 21 points, 10 rebounds, three blocks and two steals for Saint Augustine's University in a 61-47 men's basketball loss to Alderson Broaddus University at Emery Gymnasium on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015.

Last year's CIAA Rookie of the Year, January was the only Falcon to score in double figures. Keith Crawford (Sr./Richmond, VA) added eight points and Antonio Watson (Fr./Raleigh, NC) chipped in seven points. Marquis Hines (Sr./Fayetteville, NC) had six points and four rebounds.

January ignited the Falcons in the early going, scoring eight points to give the Falcons an 11-3 lead. The margin ballooned to 29-17 on Crawford's three-pointer before the Falcons entered the locker room winning 33-27 at the break.

The Falcons scorched the nets in the first half, shooting 57 percent while holding the Battlers to 33 percent. The second half was an entirely different story, however.

The Falcons were frigid in the second half, making only 4 of 20 field goal attempts for 20 percent. Their cold shooting allowed the Battlers to surge ahead 39-38 midway through the half. The deficit widened as the Falcons were outscored 34-14 in the final 20 minutes.

Defensively, the Falcons held the Battlers well below their scoring average of 77.5 points entering the game. The 61 points were a season low for the Battlers (5-2 overall).

Unfortunately, the Falcons (3-4 overall) could not generate enough offense in the second half. They still outshot the Battlers 39 percent to 38.6 percent for the contest, but the visitors shot 44.4 percent in the second half. The 47 points were a season low for the Falcons.

The Falcons will look to bounce back against neighborhood rival William Peace University on Saturday, Dec. 5. The non-conference contest will be played at the Hermann Athletic Center on Peace's campus at 3 p.m.
