Gaskins buried two three-pointers during a 12-0 run late in the first half to give the Falcons an eight-point lead at 24-16. Derry punctuated the spurt with a vicious one-handed dunk on the break.

The Falcons relinquished the lead quickly, however, as the Rams finished the half with a 13-4 surge to go ahead 29-28 at halftime. Their momentum carried over in the second half as the Rams outscored the Falcons 19-2 to extend the margin to 48-30. The Falcons trailed by double digits the rest of the game.

Despite the defeat, the Falcons outplayed the Rams in several categories including offensive rebounds (13-9), second chance points (15-13), bench points (19-16) and fast break points (11-6). But the Falcons shot 35 percent while the Rams shot 46.3 percent and scored 25 points off 18 Falcons' turnovers.

The Rams (7-10 overall, 1-5 CIAA, 0-1 Southern Division) also outshot the Falcons at the free throw line, making 20 of 30 attempts. The Falcons were 9-for-13 from the charity stripe.

Rayvon Harris and Terrell Leach sparked the Rams with 15 points apiece. Keith Armstrong added 11 points and William Crandell had 10 points.

The Falcons (5-12 overall, 0-7 CIAA, 0-1 Southern Division) hit the road again Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016, when they visit Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, N.C. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m. at Brayboy Gymnasium.
