Quincy January (So./Atlanta, GA) scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Falcons in a 78-62 CIAA loss to Bowie State University at Jordan Arena in Bowie, Md., on Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016. Keith Crawford (Sr./Richmond, VA) added 11 points and Julius Murphy (So./Goldsboro, NC) chipped in 10 points for the Falcons, who led most of the first half and trailed only 43-42 with 13:12 left in the game. But the Bulldogs gradually pulled away from the Falcons, outscoring the visitors 35-20 the rest of contest.
About the Falcons' Head Coach
MarQus Johnson is in his second season as the Falcons' head men's basketball coach. In his first season, Johnson coached guard Raheem Jolliffe to All-CIAA honors and forward Quincy January to CIAA Rookie of the Year honors. Johnson was elevated to head coach after two seasons as assistant men's basketball coach for the Falcons from 2012 to 2014. He was previously an assistant coach at Saint Augustine's University from 2008 to 2010. In the 2009-10 season, Johnson helped direct the Falcons to their second CIAA championship in school history. That squad advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament and earned a national top 25 ranking.

Sophomore forward Quincy January (Atlanta, GA) leads the CIAA in rebounds per game (9.2). He is tied for fifth in the CIAA in blocks (15) and ranks fourth in field goal percentage (59.2). January is the team's leading scorer with a 16.0 average. He is a Preseason All-CIAA pick who was the league' rookie of the year last season. The high-leaping forward has six double-doubles, which ranks 11th nationally in Division II.

Preseason All-CIAA pick Anthony Gaskins (Jr./Greenville, NC) is picking up where he left off last season. He is the team's second-leading scorer with a 13.1 average despite missing four games due to injury.
Crawford Steady In The Backcourt
Senior guard Keith Crawford (Richmond, VA) is third on the team in points per game (12.2) and leads the team in assists per game (3.3). He also averages 3.8 rebounds per game. Crawford was named CIAA Player of the Week this season. He is tied for eighth in the CIAA in three-pointers made (22).

Joshua Davis paces Lincoln (Pa.) with an 11.4 scoring average and 6.6 rebounding average, both team highs.
