RALEIGH, NC (Nov 19) – On Saturday, Quincy January (Sr./Atlanta, GA) amassed 21 points and 17 rebounds as the Saint Augustine's University men's basketball team took control of the second half to trounce the University of Mount Olive 79-67 on the final day of the Pickle Classic at Kornegay Arena in Mount Olive, N.C.

The Falcons bounced back from Friday's loss to Barton College by outscoring the Trojans 47-32 in the second half to erase a three-point halftime deficit. They shot 54.5 percent including 68 percent in the second half on 17 of 25 shooting to pull away from the Trojans.


January, who recorded his second double-double of the season and 24th of his spectacular three-year career, paced four double-figure scorers for the Falcons. Kasey Bryant (Jr./Raleigh, NC) added 17 points, Anthony Gaskins (Sr./Greenville, NC) registered 15 points and Kenneth Collins (Jr./Clayton, NC) chipped in 10 points. Gaskins needs only 27 points to reach the 1,000-point milestone in his sensational four-year career.

For their performances at the Pickle Classic, January and Gaskins were named to the all-tournament team.


Cameron Robinson and Armond Griebe each scored 13 points for Mount Olive (1-3 overall), but the Falcons limited the Trojans to 32.1 percent shooting in the contest. Tyler Thomas contributed 12 points for the Trojans.

Down 35-32 at halftime, the Falcons (2-2 overall) dominated the second half from the outset. They took their first double-digit lead at 61-50 on Gaskins three-pointer with just under nine minutes left. The margin increased to 72-58 with 2:52 remaining on January's powerful one-handed slam. With 1:17 left, Bryant hit two free throws for a 76-61 lead.

Gaskins scored 13 second-half points to lead the Falcons. Bryant added 12 points and January finished with 11 points and eight rebounds in the second stanza.

The Falcons have one day to rest before visiting Claflin University in Orangeburg, S.C. on Monday, Nov. 21. Tip-off is 7 p.m.
