The Women's Game Begins At 2 p.m. Followed By The Men's Contest At 4 p.m.
RALEIGH, NC (Jan 20) – On Saturday, Jan. 21, Saint Augustine's University (SAU) will venture to Spaulding Gymnasium and face archrival Shaw University in a CIAA basketball doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. with the women's game followed by the men's contest at 4 p.m.
Tickets are $15 for general admission and $10 for SAU students, senior citizens and military personnel with valid identification. The contest is free for children ages five and under. Fans are encouraged to arrive early due to limited seating.

The men's game is expected to be a tightly contested battle between two contending teams in the Southern Division. The Falcons (10-9 overall) are tied for third place in the Southern Division at 1-1 while the Bears (7-9 overall) are tied for first at 1-0.
The Falcons are looking for their third straight win over the Bears after sweeping the season series in 2016. They are 3-1 against their crosstown rivals under Head Coach MarQus Johnson including a 93-90 double overtime victory at Spaulding Gymnasium last year on a three-point buzzer-beater by Anthony Gaskins (Sr./Greenville, NC). The Falcons are also gunning for their third consecutive win against the Bears in Spaulding Gymnasium.
Leading the way for the Falcons is forward Quincy January (Jr./Atlanta, GA), who leads the CIAA in rebounds per game (9.6) and ranks third in points per game (16.7). January ranks second nationally in Division II in free throw attempts (160), 10th in double-doubles (9) and 13th in total rebounds (183).
Gaskins, a guard, ranks fifth in the CIAA in points per game (15.9) and second in three-pointers made (47). Falcons guard Kenneth Collins (Jr./Clayton, NC) averages 11.5 points per game and ranks fifth in three-pointers made (36). Guard Benji Bell paces the Bears in scoring with a 16.2 average which ranks fourth in the conference. Bears guard Larry Richardson, who averages 13.2 points, leads the CIAA in three-point shooting percentage (43.6).
The Bears, who average 72.9 points, lead the CIAA in three-point attempts (21.4) and rank second in three-pointers made (7.3) per game. The Falcons rank second in the conference in points allowed (68.3) and fourth in opponents three-point percentage (32.3). The Falcons average 69.6 points per game and the Bears allow 73 points per game.
In the women's game, the Lady Falcons are looking to beat the perennially strong Lady Bears for the first time since a 62-54 victory at home on Feb. 13, 2010. Both teams are searching for their first Southern Division win. The Lady Falcons (3-17 overall) are 0-2 and the Lady Bears (5-13 overall) are 0-1.
Kaaliya Williams (Fr./Richmond, VA) is the top scorer and rebounder for the Lady Falcons with an 11.7 scoring average and a 4.2 rebounding average. The Lady Falcons have shot over 40 percent in their last two games. For the Lady Bears, forward Laquisha Taylor leads the team with a 22.5 scoring average and forward Bianca Maxwell ranks second in the CIAA in rebounds per game (11.8) and fourth in field goal percentage (52.1).
The contest features the top two free throw shooting teams in the conference. The Lady Bears rank first with a 70.6 percentage and the Lady Falcons are second with a 70.4 percentage. The Lady Falcons are third in the conference in free throws made (259) and the Lady Bears are first (264).
