The Falcons (0-2 overall) are coming off a two-game road trip in the Joe Retton Classic in Fairmont, W.Va., on Nov. 10-11. They suffered losses to host Fairmont State University (86-63) and Notre Dame College (Ohio) (99-95 OT), but were encouraged by the play of standout Quincy January (Sr./Atlanta, GA), who was named CIAA Player of the Week after averaging 23 points and 14 rebounds in the Classic.

The Falcons were also excited about the performances of Tyre Gathright (Jr./Wilmington, NC), Kenneth Collins (Sr./Clayton, NC) and D.J. Harrison (Jr./Winston-Salem, NC). Gathright scored 19 points, Collins added 18 points and Harrison had 12 points and 10 boards against Notre Dame.

Classic host Mount Olive (1-1 overall) is led by Dominique Tham, who leads five double-figure scorers with a 14.5 average. Barton (0-3 overall) is sparked by Bobby Stenborg (16.0) and Jeff Gordon (15.3 ppg).

Virginia Union University (1-2 overall) is also playing in the Classic. The Panthers will face Barton on Friday at 5 p.m. and Mount Olive on Saturday at 7 p.m.

The Falcons are playing in the Classic for the second straight year and third time overall. Last season, they defeated Mount Olive 79-67 and lost to Barton 73-64.
