SAU Men's Basketball Plays In VUU Thanksgiving Classic This Weekend (Nov. 25-26)

RALEIGH, N.C. (Nov. 24) – The Saint Augustine's University men's basketball team gets a taste of CIAA action this weekend when the Falcons play in the VUU Thanksgiving Classic at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.

The Falcons face host Virginia Union University on Saturday, Nov. 25, at 5 p.m. and Elizabeth City State University on Sunday, Nov. 26, at 2 p.m. in non-conference games. Click HERE for live stats of the Virginia Union game.

The Falcons are led by standout forward Quincy January (Sr./Atlanta, GA) and a talented supporting cast. The reigning two-time CIAA Defensive Player of the Year, January (Sr./Atlanta, GA) leads the Falcons in scoring and rebounding. The standout forward averages 17.3 points per game and a CIAA-leading 10.3 rebounds per game.

Guard Tyre Gathright (Jr./Wilmington, NC) bolsters the Falcons' offensive attack with a 16.4 scoring average. Kenneth Collins (Sr./Clayton, NC) provides outstanding perimeter shooting with an 11.6 average and Quinton Morrow (Jr./Burlington, NC) adds scoring punch with a 10.0 average. The Falcons (0-5 overall) are scoring at 73.8 points a clip.

Forward James Paige paces Virginia Union (1-4 overall) with a 13.6 scoring average while guard Corey Mendez and forward John Maynor average 14.3 points and 14 points, respectively, for Elizabeth City State (2-1 overall).
