The Women's Game Starts At 5:30 p.m. Followed By The Men's Contest At 7:30 p.m.
RALEIGH, NC (Feb 7) – On Wednesday, Feb. 8, Saint Augustine's University visits Johnson C. Smith University in a CIAA basketball doubleheader at Brayboy Gymnasium in Charlotte, N.C. Tip-off for the women is 5:30 p.m. followed by the men at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $12 for general admission and $7 for visiting college students with identification and children ages six and older. The Lady Falcons are looking to knock off the Golden Bulls, who are tied for first place in the Southern Division. In the first meeting on Jan. 18, the Golden Bulls (5-1 Southern Division, 16-6 overall) came away with a 67-44 victory at Emery Gymnasium in Raleigh, N.C. Talented freshman forward-guard Kaaliya Williams (Richmond, VA) leads the Lady Falcons (0-6 Southern Division, 3-21 overall) in scoring (12.3 points per game) and rebounding (4.4 per game). Forward Blaire Thomas is the leading scorer (13.6) for the Golden Bulls.
The Falcons will attempt to stop a five-game losing skid in the men's game. The streak started against the Golden Bulls in a 63-56 defeat at Emery Gymnasium on Jan. 18. Junior sensation Quincy January (Atlanta, GA) paces the Falcons (1-5 Southern Division, 10-13 overall) in scoring (16.7) and rebounding (9.8) and guard Robert Davis is the Golden Bulls leading scorer (15.4). January leads the CIAA in rebounding average and ranks second nationally in Division II in free throw attempts.
